Around the month of June 2015, my mother who was 83 at the time, was diasgnosed with breast cancer. After several tests and suitability for surgery she was operated by Dr. Samar Gupte to remove the cancerous portion. The operation was a success and she lived for 3 years more before succumbing to cardiac arrest in 2018. Throughout her treatment in 2015 till her post-operative care, Dr. Gupte was a reassuring and caring presence, which did a lot to put my mother at ease and confident enough to undergo her surgery. Dr. Gupte is also personally a gem of a person.
I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Gupte to anyone requiring treatment for ailments pertaining to his area of expertise.

Mine was a case of uterine cancer diagnosed in 2015. I was not even 40. I had the most perfect cycle and meticulously tracked it each month. So abnormal bleeding raised a red flag. A D&C with my local gynaecologist confirmed the cancer. I was not ready for the loss of my fertility as i could not believe i had the cancer. So I researched for conservative treatment which brought me to a doctor in Cochin. She referred me to Dr. Samar and he agreed to the treatment.

It was the month of June 2018 that my mother was out of the blue diagnosed with ovarian cancer and her CA counts were 500 and 900 respectively.
We were devastated and shattered when we got to know of the same and did not know what to do.

I was just bearing the painful cysts in both my ovaries, especially a very big one in left Ovary. In this time howsoever I was fortunate to meet up Dr Samar Gupte and got the best of the treatments and care that I could.

The cysts were very big approx 10cm to 12cm big after its detection in a normal Sonography. When we met Dr Samar for the first time, he analysed all the reports and understood the entire case as much as possible and suggested the best course of action and treatment in the correct manner.

He gave me a few more test that needed to be done and when we met the next time, Dr Samar studied each and everything in detail and suggested the final treatment plan.

You won’t believe but each and every report and the entire case was explained to me in detail. Dr Samar was the one to deal with all my questions tantrums and also motivate and give the power to be strong.

Staying in the hospital, after a big surgery with lots of pain, can be a daunting task but Dr Samar always gave me the motivation that ‘yes you can do it!’ I guess that’s what a patient needs the most lying on a Hospital bed.

After the successful surgery, the Biopsy Report showed that the Cysts that was removed had a Germ cell Tumour in it.

When I visited Dr Samar to get the stitches removed after 15 days of Surgery, I was also shown the Reports that concluded that I had to take Chemotherapy.

Dr Samar explained to me why I should take the Chemo and what would be the consequences if I didn’t take it. Though I was not ready I agreed to him with full trust and went ahead with 5 months of 4 Chemotherapy Cycles (each of 5 days) and 2 more Surgeries of Port insertion and Port Removal successfully.

Today I don’t feel any regret or depression of what I had gone through and the pain I had to endure. All I feel is proud and thankful to God and Most importantly the best doctor, Treatments and Care that I have got!
